About The Position

Under direct supervision, this entry-level position is responsible for assisting skilled trades workers. The role involves performing semi-skilled duties in a variety of maintenance and repair tasks within an assigned craft area at an apprentice level. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM, with an initial training period of Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM for the first couple of months.

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn building construction, equipment maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Self-motivated and directed; ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Texas driver's license is required - must have a clean driving record.
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Assists skilled trade workers with routine installations, repairs, construction, and replacement of equipment.
• Assists trade personnel in the performance of maintenance and repairs unique to the assigned craft area.
• Cleans and paints equipment and structures as directed.
• Performs area housekeeping.
• Performs similar semi-skilled duties within the assigned craft area and trains for higher-level positions.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
