About The Position

The mandate of Facility Operations is to operate and maintain all City facilities and City-managed buildings, which represents approximately 900 buildings and includes police, fire, libraries, child care, paramedic posts, recreation, culture, public works, City Hall and other administrative buildings, long-term care facilities, and facility outdoor property. The Facility Operations units deliver facility management and maintenance services within assigned geographic and/or specialty areas. You are responsible for performing duties associated with the operation and maintenance of all City facilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Up to one month of related experience
  • English oral, reading, writing
  • Possess the physical capability to perform the ongoing duties of the position
  • Presentable to the public

Nice To Haves

  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates are assets
  • General facility cleanliness and safe work practices
  • Cleaning chemicals and disinfectants and safe application/procedures
  • Effective cleaning techniques
  • WHMIS
  • Customer Service principles
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Able to communicate effectively with the general public and staff
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Polite and punctual
  • Prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
