About The Position

The Maintenance Helper performs a variety of maintenance and repair activities, including assisting Maintenance Mechanics with various assignments. This role involves performing minor repairs, changing light fixtures, painting, and assisting with plumbing tasks. The employee is expected to operate a sweeper in the production area daily and always perform work with the utmost safety in mind, wearing appropriate PPE and following all safety rules, especially those involving lock out/tag out, powered industrial vehicles, confined spaces, and electrical equipment. The position also requires assisting in new construction and remodeling of the facility, reporting any safety violations or equipment misuse, and adhering to all 5S department procedures for maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Additionally, employees are responsible for complying with all Federal, Local, and State government regulations, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures, attending all provided training, and conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures. The role may also involve suggesting waste elimination initiatives and supporting other general maintenance activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 6 months - 1 year of related experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and previous training in Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read, interpret, blueprints and written instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to handle and contain problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
  • Must use all Personal Protective Equipment provided by the company for the position and the environment.
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work.
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification and or formal training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
  • Forklift License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor repairs, changes light fixtures, paints, and assists with plumbing.
  • Operates sweeper in production area daily.

  • Uses a variety of tools to perform duties including but not limited to; hand tools, and power tools in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Assists in all areas of new construction and remodeling of the facility.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor or lead.
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • May assist and/or suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as opportunities to elimination of production material recycle and waste opportunities.
  • Supports other general maintenance activities as assigned.
