About The Position

The Centralized Maintenance and Services (CM&S) Division is seeking a maintenance craft person to join the Elevator / Hoist Crew. This role provides maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive care, and emergency response for elevators and hoists across the Kingsport site. The Maintenance Craft Person troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment associated with elevators and hoists, with an emphasis on electrical troubleshooting. They take ownership of hoist inspections or a set number of area-specific elevators together with a team member, including preventive maintenance, inspections, documentation, and follow-up. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team and participating in the scheduled on-call rotation. It is recommended that a current resume include all relatable prior work experience, any training certifications, apprenticeship completions and license information.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to safety and follow company safety programs and life critical processes.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have experience working on elevators.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must follow all safety procedures.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hard hats at all times in designated areas. Other specialized protective equipment must be worn when required.
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be familiar with basic computer functions such as creating, sending, and receiving e-mails and data entry.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, demonstrating both initiative and a professional attitude.
  • Must have clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to apply mechanical and electrical aptitude to properly maintain the performance of the equipment within area of responsibility.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have achieved Eastman’s required score levels on the WorkKeys assessments within 12 months of hire date.
  • WorkKeys required score levels: Reading for Information / Workplace Documents - Level 6, Locating Information / Graphic Literacy - Level 5, Applied Mathematics - Level 6.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment is a plus.
  • Applicable elevator certifications are a plus.
  • WorkKeys assessment preferred at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment associated with elevators and hoists, with an emphasis on electrical troubleshooting.
  • Takes ownership of hoist inspections or a set number of area-specific elevators together with a team member, including preventive maintenance, inspections, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team.
  • Participates in the scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Provides after-hours emergency support.
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment and assists coworkers as needed.
  • Completes all required training for a mechanic position, including the apprenticeship program through Northeast State where applicable, within the prescribed timeframe.
