About The Position

Maintenance Generalist are responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This role involves responding to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, handling emergency situations, and performing preventive maintenance according to schedule. The position requires the ability to work in varying temperatures and environments, including dusty, warm, and humid conditions, and may involve janitorial services. The job also emphasizes the importance of safety programs, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures, and requires the ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs independently. Biosecurity and animal welfare are critical aspects of the work environment, potentially requiring showering and changing clothes before entering the facility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level
  • Willing to stand 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to perform all duties of the position
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction
  • Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems
  • Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations
  • Lubricate equipment with various grease and oils
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
  • Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs
  • Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs
  • Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision
  • Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision
  • Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed
  • Perform janitorial services if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned
  • Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard
  • Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures
