About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The Maintenance Generalist will perform various positions as required/assigned and receive training as required. The role is focused on maintaining and promoting the Tyson safety culture.

Requirements

  • Must be able to use basic hand tools
  • Requires basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
  • 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
  • Able to read & understand assignments
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
  • Must be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
  • Must have at least 1 year of maintenance/mechanical experience
  • Must have 6 months of continuous employment in the last 2 years
  • All applicants must complete the final task that is separate from the application
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Prefer individual be respirator qualified
  • Willing to further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training

Responsibilities

  • Perform various positions as required/assigned

  • Perform duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
  • May monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler
  • May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
