About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Requirements

  • Must be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing.
  • Able to read & understand assignments.
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing.
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors.
  • Basic knowledge of math.
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment.
  • Must have at least 6 months of mechanical/maintenance skills in the last 24 months, preferably industrial maintenance listed on application.
  • 6 months continuous employment with one employer in the last 24 months.
  • 180 days wait period from last termination date.
  • 3X rule (candidates cannot have worked for Tyson 3X before).
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Prefer individual be respirator qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Using basic hand tools.
  • Performing welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, and replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems.
  • Monitoring boiler and performing chemical test on boiler.
  • Reading drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems.
  • Operating various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Willing to further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training.
