About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. This General Mechanic position could work any department of this beef processing facility. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling and reaching are required in all areas and must be able to climb up/down stairs and ladders. Lifting up to 100 pounds is required. This position work in cold, damp or hot and humid environments (30 degrees to 105 degrees). Must be mechanically inclined. Welding experience preferred. This is a B Shift position. The work schedule is Wednesday through Saturday from 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM (1930-0600). Per the Union Contract, job bids are awarded to the team member with the greatest seniority within the Maintenance Division of the complex where the position is posted. Seniority from other divisions is not considered when determining the successful bidder. If no Maintenance Division team member is awarded the position, qualified production team members will then be considered based on their qualifications and ability to perform the job. This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

Requirements

  • 6 months’ experience of mechanic work in the work history section of application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program
  • Candidates with 6 or more attendance points and/or any suspension in the past 12 months will not be considered
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures to ensure safety
  • Must be mechanically inclined
