About The Position

This position is responsible for general maintenance throughout the plant while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of continuous employment within the last 2 years
  • 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance
  • Able to use basic hand tools
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
  • Able to read & understand assignments
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
  • Must be certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
  • Willing to further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good oral communication skills to discuss issues with the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Needs to be able to understand information contained in Maintenance manuals
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Tyson Foods

  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
  • Receive training as required
  • Perform various positions as required/assigned
  • Perform duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, replacement of motors, motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
  • May monitor boiler and perform chemical test on boiler
  • May be required to read drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
