About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Must be able to use basic hand tools
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in areas of welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics & plumbing
  • Able to read & understand assignments
  • Able to communicate orally & in writing
  • Able to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather & odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Able to use various electrical & pneumatic power tools & equipment
  • At least 6 months of mechanical/maintenance skills in the last 24 months, preferably industrial maintenance listed on application
  • 6 months continuous employment with one employer in the last 24 months
  • Must complete the final task that is separate from the application

  • Willing to further education by outside training, company testing program & vendor training

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Monitoring boiler and performing chemical test on boiler
  • Reading drawings & schematics of hydraulic & basic electrical systems
  • Operating various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
  • Performing duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing, replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water & steam pipes, lines, & systems
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
