About The Position

The Maintenance Generalist Lead MG0L is responsible for assisting the Hatchery Supervisor and Hatchery Manager in coordinating the daily responsibilities of the department by ensuring work assignments, instructions, and expectations are effectively communicated to team members and completed accurately and in a timely manner. This position provides leadership and technical support while troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing facility equipment and company assets. The Maintenance Generalist Lead helps ensure production efficiency, supports maintenance planning activities, maintains inventory accuracy, and promotes a safe work environment while adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures. This facility operates 5 days a week and is responsible for the incubation and hatching of chicks that support poultry production operations. The facility may also operate on weekends and holidays, as needed, to meet production requirements and ensure continuous animal care and hatchery operations.

Requirements

  • Must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods up to 8 or more hours per shift.
  • Must be willing and able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the shift.
  • Must be willing and able to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms when required.
  • Must be willing and able to work around moving machinery, mechanical systems, electrical equipment, and production processes.
  • Must be willing and able to work in varying temperatures, hot, cold, wet, dry, noise levels, dust, humidity, and other manufacturing conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to safely use maintenance tools, testing equipment, and other job-related devices.
  • Must comply with all Tyson Foods biosecurity policies and procedures. Team members must not own, raise, care for, possess, or have regular contact with poultry, fowl, birds, waterfowl, game birds, or other avian species outside of work as a condition of employment in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Previous industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and production equipment systems.
  • Leadership or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs, inventory management, and maintenance documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Hatchery Supervisor and Hatchery Manager with daily departmental coordination and communication of maintenance priorities.
  • Provide guidance and support to maintenance team members to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and correctly.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, facility systems, and company assets.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and support production operations as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities and ensure consistent adherence to established PM schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance intervals.
  • Coordinate with management regarding monthly maintenance budgets and assist with prioritizing expenditure based on operational needs.
  • Monitor maintenance supply usage and support cost-effective resource allocation.
  • Maintain an accurate parts room inventory and ensure critical spare parts are available when needed.
  • Inspect equipment and identify opportunities for reliability improvements and preventive maintenance enhancements.
  • Assist production departments during operations to support continuous facility performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all Tyson policies, safety requirements, GMPs, food safety standards, and maintenance procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by identifying and correcting hazards.
  • Utilize maintenance systems, logs, and documentation to support operational and regulatory compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with management, production leaders, and team members to achieve facility goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
