About The Position

Mountain Valley Maintenance is seeking a working foreman to lead their maintenance labor crew. For over 20 years, Mountain Valley Maintenance has been a stable, year-round employer in the Vail Valley, responsible for maintaining associations and homes. The crew handles outdoor work including snow removal in winter, landscaping and irrigation in summer, and general maintenance labor throughout the year. The foreman will report to the Maintenance Manager and lead a crew of 4 to 6 laborers, working in the field daily to manage and perform the work.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a crew in snow removal, landscaping, grounds, or similar outdoor maintenance work.
  • Experience operating plow trucks and skid steers.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently enough to give safety and work instructions, communicate with clients and property managers, and read/write basic notes, checklists, and text messages in both languages.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record (CDL not required).
  • Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for time tracking, photos, and job notes.
  • Availability for 4am starts on storm days and a share of weekend snow coverage.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Irrigation experience or certification.
  • Colorado Certified Operator or Qualified Supervisor pesticide license, or willingness to obtain one in the first season.
  • OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with Jobber or similar field software.
  • Knowledge of mountain plant material and high-altitude turf care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and motivate a crew of 4 to 6 maintenance laborers.
  • Give clear safety and work instructions in English and Spanish, and run short daily safety talks.
  • Set the example on the job: quality, pace, safety, and respect for the properties and residents.
  • Track crew hours, daily job notes, and site photos in Jobber software.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with hiring, training, and performance feedback for the crew.
  • Lead plow routes and shoveling crews during storms, starting at 3am when snow falls.
  • Operate plow trucks, skid steers, and snow blowers, and ensure the crew works safely on ice and in cold conditions.
  • Apply deicer, clear walkways, stairs, and entries, and conduct site checks before leaving.
  • Communicate storm progress and issues to the Maintenance Manager and property managers.
  • Lead mowing, trimming, planting, mulching, weed control, and cleanup on association grounds.
  • Manage irrigation spring startup, seasonal adjustments, repairs, and fall winterization.
  • Inspect properties for hazards, drainage problems, and repair needs, and report them.
  • Lead hauling, debris removal, painting, staining, minor repairs, and property cleanup projects.
  • Maintain trucks, trailers, and equipment, ensuring they are clean, fueled, inspected, and ready for use.
  • Order and pick up materials, and track crew material usage.
