About The Position

Lactalis Heritage Dairy, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is hiring a Maintenance Apprentice Building and Grounds based in Tulare. Reporting to the Associate Maintenance Manager, the position is responsible for keeping the facility’s buildings, utilities, and grounds safe, efficient, and operational through preventive maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement activities.

The apprentice performs routine and extensive building and grounds maintenance, repairs building structures and fixtures, prepares and finishes surfaces, and performs basic electrical and plumbing maintenance. The role also supports minor remodeling and facility improvements, maintains restroom and other building support systems, operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment, and carries out general maintenance and labor duties. Responsibilities include following safety, Lockout/Tagout, food safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements; completing work orders and preventive maintenance records; maintaining a clean and safe work area; and collaborating with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, vendors, and other departments.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience with Facilities and Grounds Maintenance.
• Familiarity with GMP standards.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.
• Knowledge of building maintenance practices, methods, materials, and tools.
• Knowledge of basic electrical systems and components.
• Knowledge of painting, surface preparation, finishing techniques, and general construction practices.
• Ability to work effectively with internal departments, contractors, and vendors.
• Knowledge of basic remodeling and building improvement practices.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum 2 years of Facilities and Grounds Maintenance experience in a dairy setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and extensive building and grounds maintenance throughout the facility.
• Repair and maintain building structures and fixtures, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and windows.
• Prepare, paint, and finish interior and exterior surfaces.
• Perform basic electrical maintenance and repairs, including installing outlets and lighting fixtures and conducting minor troubleshooting.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems, including toilets, urinals, water lines, air lines, and other utility systems.
• Identify and correct maintenance issues affecting building infrastructure and utilities.
• Perform minor remodeling and improvement projects, including painting, tile installation, and related facility upgrades.
• Maintain and repair restroom facilities and other building support systems.
• Operate, inspect, and perform minor maintenance on equipment used for groundskeeping and facility maintenance.
• Perform general labor and maintenance duties as assigned to support departmental and facility needs.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, safety regulations, and company safety policies.
• Complete assigned work orders, inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and checklists accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform cleaning and sanitation activities in assigned areas.
• Comply with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, regulatory standards, and safety procedures.
• Promote and maintain a positive, cooperative, team-oriented work environment across departments.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and other departments.
