About The Position

The Marcus Whitman Hotel is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to maintain the building's physical appearance and the functionality of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role ensures the security, cleanliness, and proper repair of all engineering department tools and equipment, adhering to established procedures and budgets. The position involves completing delegated work orders, responding to after-hour calls, and immediately reporting and addressing unsafe conditions. The hotel is described as the historic frontrunner in Walla Walla, offering a destination for business and leisure with historic style, comfort, and friendliness.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete all types of work orders generated for engineering.
  • Must have a general understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to effectively perform painting, woodworking, and general carpentry.
  • Ability to perform maintenance and general repair.
  • Must have knowledge and the ability to operate tools, hand tools and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be flexible and able to perform multiple tasks and work in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeymen level experience or equivalent in a trade or 2+ years in building maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the building’s physical appearance and working order.
  • Assist with the functionality and general upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ensure the security, cleanliness, preventative maintenance, and repair of all engineering department tools, equipment, and safety features in accordance with established procedures and budgets.
  • Ensure all maintenance and engineering storerooms and work areas are kept in a clean and orderly manner, storing all tools, equipment, and spare parts in the proper location.
  • Responsible for the proper treatment and care of tools and equipment used to perform tasks.
  • Responsible to complete delegated work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond to after-hour calls as necessary.
  • Reports and addresses unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
