WTR Maintenance Engineer

Samsung ElectronicsAustin, TX
$76,000 - $174,500Onsite

About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the reliable, safe, and cost-effective operation of all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems within an industrial chemical wastewater treatment plant and a parallel Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) production plant. This role leads a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, drives preventive-maintenance programs, manages capital-project upgrades, and ensures compliance with environmental, safety, and quality regulations. The engineer acts as the technical authority for troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement initiatives that maximize plant availability and product water quality.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, or chemical engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment systems and or UPW treatment systems.
  • Proficiency in Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) & Reliability.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & Execute Maintenance Strategies: Create preventive- and predictive-maintenance (PM/PdM) programs for pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, RO/EDI systems, dosing equipment, and utilities. Track and improve key reliability metrics (availability, MTBF, MTTR).
  • Drive Capital-Project Management: Scope, budget, procure, and commission upgrades (e.g., pump-vibration monitoring, PLC/HMI modernization, new water-treatment modules). Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, safety, and quality targets.
  • Root-Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Conduct Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root-Cause Analyses (RCA) on major equipment failures. Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and Lean/Six-Sigma improvements to reduce downtime and waste.
  • Ensure Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Maintain compliance with EPA wastewater regulations, OSHA, ISO 14001/9001, and UP-water quality specs (conductivity, TOC, microbiology). Keep accurate maintenance records, permit, and audit trails.
  • Data Management & Automation Integration: Use CMMS (e.g., Maximo, SAP PM) and analytics platforms (PI, PowerBI) for condition-monitoring, KPI reporting, and predictive analytics. Collaborate with control-system engineers to refine alarm strategies and set-point optimization.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues across both plants.
