About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel, pool, and surrounding areas by performing various maintenance tasks. This includes minor painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and HVAC functions, as well as routine preventative maintenance. The role also involves responding to guest requests, performing repairs on various equipment, and ensuring all safety and security procedures are followed. The Maintenance Engineer must be able to troubleshoot issues, work with attention to detail, and maintain a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and troubleshoot operating errors and repairs.
  • Perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and courtesy; may have specialization in an area of general maintenance.
  • Effectively deal with internal and external customers with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Use arithmetic skills to measure, compute material needs, and inspect products for compliance.
  • Utilize computers and systems to enter data and process information.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Service-oriented—actively look for ways to help people.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree.
  • Previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience is required (e.g., painter, carpenter, electrician, air conditioning).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the hotel, pool, and surrounding areas by performing minor painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC functions, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts; checking fluid levels; replacing filters; and conducting other preventative maintenance actions.
  • Notify management of the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment as needed.
  • Respond to guest requests for service according to company policy and keep records of completed work.
  • Ensure that all phone equipment is in working order and notify management of any needed repairs.
  • Observe equipment and utility meter readings daily, maintaining or repairing specialized equipment as necessary.
  • Stay accessible to the Chief Engineer, MOD, and all operating departments of the hotel.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Complete safety training and certifications, maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets, and adhere to safe work practices, including the Lockout/Tagout program.
  • Notify the Chief Engineer of all equipment and supply needs through inventory and par levels.
  • Learn and respond to all emergency procedures.
  • Ensure that uniform and appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
