About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. This role involves participating in the preventative maintenance program, handling guest requests, and completing other work orders. The engineer must perform duties in a safe and efficient manner, including trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing. Depending on the property, this role may also require driving a shuttle van. This specific position splits time between Cambria Airport Hotel and Avid Hotel, Nashville, and requires weekend availability.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state (property specific).
Must have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Driving Record) (property specific).
Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
Change out light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch-up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and hot tub.
Perform plumbing repair, laundry equipment repair, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supplies.
Monitor energy conservation and repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment upon request.
Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine location and cause, assess emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk.
Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Clean the exterior parking lot and remove trash from receptacles.
Perform minor landscaping tasks, such as pulling weeds between lawn servicing dates.
Assist the housekeeping department in maintaining public areas of the hotel.
Assist with guest transportation if the property has shuttle service.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks as identified in the CORE program and record completed work.
Maintain the necessary stock of mechanical items to ensure timely completion of work without delays.
Advise the General Manager of equipment or supplies needed and properly maintain the building.
Assist the breakfast area with specified tasks as needed.
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
Support all areas of food service as necessary, including washing dishes, operating the dishwashing machine, restocking dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans, cleaning work tables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks, and moving trash and garbage to designated areas if requested.
