About The Position

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the process and all associated equipment. The role involves operating the process in a safe and reliable manner, complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Key duties include communicating maintenance needs, maintaining accurate records, and performing repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial equipment such as grinding mills, sifters, elevators, bag houses, rotary screws, operating control panels, rotary gas dryers, heat exchangers, and packaging equipment. Craft skills required may include welding, pipefitting, general electrical work, mechanical fabrication, and general repair. The position also requires the ability to repair, install, design, recommend, and program various control circuits, safety systems, and electrical/electronic/instrumentation components, with a strong emphasis on PLC programming, installation, and repair. The role involves performing complex repairs and installations, including 3-phase electrical systems, motor control centers, pumps, motors, compressors, variable frequency drives, wiring, and natural gas systems, while understanding OSHA, NFPA, and local electrical codes. The ability to interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, along with fabrication, layout, and welding skills, is essential. The role also includes repairing and maintaining equipment in line with Safety, Environment, Quality, Production, and Cost Control objectives, receiving and accounting for physical assets and repair parts, communicating departmental goals, performing housekeeping duties, actively engaging in safety practices, ensuring environmental compliance, and managing the purchase and reconciliation of R&M items within budget.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Operates the process in a safe and reliable manner.

  • Communicates maintenance needs as they occur to fellow employees in other departments.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date files and communicating timely and relevant information to fellow workers and/or supervisors.
  • Repairing and performing/documenting preventative maintenance on machines and equipment. Such equipment and machines may include grinding mills, sifters, elevators, bag houses, rotary screws, operating control panels, rotary gas dryer, heat exchangers, packaging equipment, and other process equipment. Craft skills which maybe required include: welding, pipefitting, general electric, mechanical fabrication and general repair. Repair, install, design, recommend, program various control circuits, safety systems, and various electrical/electronics and instrumentation. Strong skills in PLC programming, installing, and repairs. Ability to perform complex repairs and install systems, including 3-phase electrical, motor control center, pumps, motors, compressors, variable frequency drives, wiring, and natural gas systems. An understanding of OHSA, NFPA, and local electrical codes. Ability to interpret electrical schematics and blueprints; has skills in fabrication, layout, welding and other maintenance as required.

  • Performs housekeeping duties.
  • Understanding that safe work practices is a condition of employment and is actively engaged in activities such as identifying hazard ID’s and writing and updating work procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental permits and good neighbor principals by monitoring bag house emissions and other potential leak sources of glass dust and documenting accordingly.
  • Issued and uses company credit card to purchase R&M items – reconciles billing monthly
  • Ensuring that R&M dollars are spent wisely and are consistent with commitments to operating budgets.
