About The Position

Glacial Lakes Energy (GLE) is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join their team at their Watertown, SD facility. This role focuses on identifying root causes of issues and repairing, replacing, rewiring, and installing electrical and instrumentation components, ensuring compliance with electrical codes. The position also involves maintaining electrical inventory, communicating with the Maintenance Manager, and assisting with training, safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Formal training and/or certification in electronics/electrical systems (required)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant electrical experience (ethanol/industrial environment preferred)
  • Must hold a current Electrical License
  • Must obtain Journeyman’s or Master’s/Contractor’s License within 1 year of hire
  • Experience with 4-20mA analog and discrete control wiring
  • Experience with PLC/DCS troubleshooting
  • Experience with Ladder logic
  • Experience with Calibration/configuration of flow, level, temperature, pressure, pH instruments
  • Experience with Power systems up to 4160V 3-phase
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot root causes and perform repairs, replacements, and rewiring of instrumentation/electrical components
  • Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes (480V, 220V, 110V, 24V DC, 4-20mA loops/circuits)
  • Maintain documentation of changes and work performed
  • Maintain and manage inventory of electrical/electronic parts
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Manager regarding needs and concerns
  • Respond to emergency plant issues after hours, on weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Develop, train, and review electrical safety programs (e.g., Arc Flash, electrical integrity)
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime
  • Ensure safe, clean, and organized electrical work areas and enclosures
