About The Position

This role of Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment within an industrial environment. This includes working with high and low voltage systems, motors, control panels, circuit breakers, wiring, and electrical machinery. This role requires troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical malfunctions, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems. The Maintenance Electrician will work closely with other maintenance staff and production teams to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment, while adhering to all safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship program or equivalent industrial electrical training
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, including high and low voltage systems, industrial control systems, PLCs, and motor control centers
  • Basic knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical (high and low voltage), Electrical troubleshooting, Control systems, Welding, Cutting, Fabrication, and General Mechanics
  • Knowledge of forklift operations
  • Ability to record data for maintenance records
  • Ability to work with others in all phases of manufacturing
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance according to company guidelines.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and promotes all safety guidelines and company standards.
  • Responds to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions, diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Daily visual inspections of plant and mobile equipment to check mechanical operative readiness, including electrical systems, motors, control panels, electrical wiring, and circuit breakers.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and electrical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, transformers, electrical panels, circuit boards, power distribution systems, and electrical wiring; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting electrical malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of electrical problems by observing devices in operation, listening for issues, using precision measuring and testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, and voltage testers.
  • Removes defective electrical components and wiring by dismantling electrical devices; using electricians' tools, hoists, crane, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Repairs electrical machinery and equipment by the appropriate methods; troubleshooting electrical circuits, rewiring, replacing electrical parts, repairing circuit boards, and diagnosing electrical control systems.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine electrical maintenance; monitoring compliance.
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs wiring, circuits, and electrical components in machinery and production equipment.
  • Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock and communicating shortages to managers.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment, parts, and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; uses lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety practices, and ensures electrical systems are properly shut off before maintenance.
  • Responsible for entry and maintenance in confined space and permit space enclosures; follows all Confined Space Restrictions, policies, and procedures; wears respirators when required; works in constricted environments.
  • Provides electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Documents all repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections related to electrical systems.
