About The Position

The Maintenance Electrician is a multi-craft maintenance position that is responsible for daily preventive maintenance such as general electrical work, machine repair, completion of work orders on plant equipment during down shifts; and performing troubleshoots and repairing equipment on operating shifts. Responsible for: Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment; coordinates maintenance and repair of electrical power, lighting and transportation equipment.

Requirements

  • Technical school degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must possess valid Master Electrician License.

Responsibilities

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sending devices.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
  • Pushes buttons and presses keys on programmable controller to program automated machinery, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
  • Analyses and resolves electrical problems or assists workers in solving electrical problems.
  • Plans layout or wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Performs related duties as required.
