About The Position

Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshoots and repairs all shipyard production equipment; including motors and controllers, generators, power panels and sub-stations, PLCs, VFDs, public address systems, and HVAC and machinery controllers. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal training in electrical theory or proven experience in trouble shooting and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate malfunctions in equipment, systematically troubleshoot faulty component or circuitry, perform repairs, and test and return equipment to operational status.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot 480v 3 phase circuits.
  • Familiar with lock/tag out procedures and perform all work in accordance with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Ability to decipher electrical schematics, comprehend technical manuals, and use electrical test equipment and hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be able to work any shift.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, hear warning signals, and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an industrial environment is preferred.
