About The Position

Wieland is a global leader in copper and copper alloy manufacturing, processing, and distribution. We provide a large product and service portfolio including power, automotive, ammunition, coinage, construction materials, refrigeration, electronics and many other industries. Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Electrical Technician. The Maintenance Electrical Technician will be responsible for detecting and reporting equipment issues, maintaining a safe and orderly work environment, and performing repairs and preventive maintenance. This role includes troubleshooting electrical and control systems, programming drives and PLCs, and supporting overall equipment reliability and uptime. This role is located in Waterbury, CT, and will be fully on-site.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to maintain production records and logs
  • Employment record reflecting reliability with above-average attendance
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in troubleshooting production line equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues on equipment
  • Ability to program various drives and PLCs
  • Ability to perform simple math, including addition and subtraction
  • Familiarity with the use of computers
  • Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • E-2 license or 3 to 5 years of qualified military training is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Detect and report faulty operations as well as unusual machine conditions
  • Assist other trades as required
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as described in the appropriate JSP (Job Safety Practice)
  • Read, understand, and follow all job instructions specific to the equipment
  • Perform repairs and installation of electronic equipment using schematics, wiring diagrams, and floor layouts
  • Diagnose and plan repairs to equipment while minimizing downtime
  • Diagnose problems in conventional and electronic circuits, as well as system control logic
  • Program drives and PLCs and adjust parameters as needed to achieve optimum performance
  • Conduct periodic checks on electrical equipment such as breakers, bearings, and commutators
  • Replace and repair pumps, valves, fittings, and collaborate with other trades to maintain maximum uptime
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities, including greasing, light mechanical work, and monitoring temperatures, pressures, and flow rates
  • Carry out similar or related responsibilities as required, and assist in other maintenance trades where skills can be applied
