About The Position

This semi-skilled manual work position in general facilities, custodial, and labor activities supports the buildings and grounds. The position also represents a potential entry-level job into the maintenance department pending the results of the standardized mechanical aptitude test.

Requirements

  • Must have 3-5 years of mechanical or electrical experience in a distribution environment.
  • Must have technical skills and be willing to attend conveyor specific training.
  • Exposure to mathematics applied industry.
  • Exposure to PLC programming and controls in an automated environment.
  • Familiar with gearboxes, electric motors, v-belts, and pulleys.
  • Integrate Safe work practices into every new task assigned and learn new safe behaviors from senior maintenance technicians.
  • Apply learned behaviors to new assignments.
  • Must be able to crawl, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., climb, and work at/or up to 50ft. in height.
  • Must be able to distinguish different wire colors.
  • Must be able to stand most or all of shift in a wide range of temperatures.
  • Develop and present training and communication sessions for the department related to new, modified, or facility operations familiar to D-Tech issues to share best practices.
  • Must possess troubleshooting and communication skills, mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate various equipment, ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment.
  • Assist skilled maintenance workers in performing a wide variety of assignments including conduit installation, conveyor repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and other work.
  • Move and carry heavy material such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, or furniture.
  • Perform minor plumbing such as drain cleanout, faucet repair and clog removal.
  • Repair interior and exterior building related issues including driving company vehicles to refuel and purchase supplies for maintenance and repair jobs.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance programs related to infrastructure equipment and safety concerns. This includes roof leak detection and pressure washing of exterior structures.
  • Perform routine mechanical HVAC tasks such as filter element changing, changing belts and coil cleaning.
  • Touch-up paint and assist with routine miscellaneous day to day activities related to buildings and grounds upkeep, repair, and maintenance including battery changing as needed.
  • Assist in testing electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC controls.
  • Be able to replace known individual components in these systems based on the complexity of the work.
  • Operate and troubleshoot label application equipment as required to maintain a documented record of label quality from either desktop, or process-line printing devices.
  • Develop and present training and communication sessions for the department related to new, modified, or equipment operations familiar to D-Tech issues to share best practices.
  • Understand the computerized maintenance management system including accessing work assignments, printing work-orders, and entering feedback from field findings.
  • Willingness to assist fellow associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
