About The Position

As a Maintenance Custodian, you will perform custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities within residence halls, apartments, and dining areas. In this role, you will also complete routine maintenance work on buildings, facilities, and equipment. You must be willing and able to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including painting, spackling, and minor patching, as well as wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and operating industrial cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, and vacuum cleaners. You will be responsible for cleaning restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices, and similar facilities, as well as moving heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, and supplies. This position requires the ability to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, stand and walk continuously throughout your shift, and climb and stand on ladders.

Requirements

  • The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write.
  • Six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
