About The Position

As the Maintenance Custodian for Auxiliary Facilities Services, you will perform custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and care of residence halls, apartments, dining facilities, and other assigned areas. You will also perform routine maintenance work on buildings, facilities, and equipment. In this role, you must be willing and able to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, painting, spackling, minor patching, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including operating industrial cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, and vacuum cleaners. You will be responsible for cleaning restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices, and similar facilities, as well as moving heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, supplies, and other related materials. This position requires the ability to bend, stoop, lift, and move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds; stand and walk continuously throughout your shift; and climb and work from ladders.

Requirements

  • The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write.
  • Six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of custodial experience in higher education facilities.
