About The Position

The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple award-winning public charter schools in southeastern North Carolina. This role is for a Maintenance/Custodial Worker at Classical Charter Schools of Southport, located in Bolivia, NC, serving students in grades K-8. Requirements

Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements.
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Some knowledge of procedures to operate heating and air conditioning equipment.
Skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning and landscaping.
Ability to maintain positive working relations.
Ability to perform duties without interrupting ongoing classes/teachers unless specified or an emergency.
Able to climb stairs and meet physical demands of the job without the use of an elevator.
Able to climb an extension ladder to perform certain job duties.
Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions.
Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs.
Dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Responsibilities

Moves and arranges furniture for classrooms, general purpose rooms, and the auditorium.
Assembles furniture upon arrival.
Assists with the installation of HVAC units.
Performs roof repairs to prevent leakage.
Transports curriculum orders and classroom supplies.
Performs plumbing repairs, including replacing toilets and urinals.
Cleans and maintains floors by scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and polishing.
Washes windows, woodwork, walls, and other surfaces.
Cleans restroom fixtures.
Maintains inventory and control of supplies and maintenance equipment.
Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classroom facilities.
Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
Removes trash and debris from inside and on the grounds.
Performs lawn, flower bed, and external landscaping duties.
Ensures sidewalks and external entrances are clear of debris and safe.
Maintains general cleanliness and repair of ceilings, windows, walls, floors, and desks.
Empties wastebaskets and other refuse receptacles.
Locks and unlocks doors and gates.
Sorts and stores materials for the recycling program.
Makes minor repairs to furniture or facilities.
Reports damages or needed repairs requiring outside attention to the supervisor.
Operates heating and air conditioning equipment (on/off).
Performs routine maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems.
Records and reports all hazards and safety issues to the Office Manager and Headmaster.
