About The Position

Serves as Receiving Clerk, mail delivery person and Custodial Worker within the College buildings as assigned. Provide services for mail delivery and performs the role of campus receiving clerk. Perform custodial services to maintain the cleanliness of buildings and keep as attractive as possible. Other duties will include helping with event set ups, moving and/or relocating furniture, emptying trash cans in parking and sidewalk areas and assisting facilities with other projects as needed. Provide the specified services as described below. Receive all deliveries to the campus dock facilities. Sign for incoming shipments and labels for proper delivery within the region. Trace shipments when necessary. Handle certified mail procedures. Responsible for processing incoming and outgoing mail. Perform one daily mail pick-up and delivery trip throughout the campus per day. Deliver incoming packages (or prepare alternate means for delivery) to departments during regular daily mail runs. Check out/in keys for contractors. Be proficient in operating a forklift. Monitors and coordinates major copier machine maintenance and repair of all convenience copiers. Provides all supplies (toner, paper, staples) for convenience copying areas. Collection/disposal of used toner cartridges. Maintains accurate inventory and supply stock of all copy paper, colored paper, and binding supplies. Complete work orders for items that need repairing or maintenance work. In the winter, shovel sidewalks and entrances, spread deicer to keep areas free of snow and ice, as necessary. Conduct all activities with professionalism, appreciation, and respect for the diversity of individuals, their perspectives, and working styles, while promoting these values as an integral part of daily responsibilities. Maintain confidentiality at all times, safeguard valuables, property, and equipment, and consistently follow established best practices, policies, and procedures while demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Keep supervisor informed of workflow and operation details of area. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Facilities or Lead Maintenance Tech. The above listed duties and responsibilities will include lifting and physical exertion. Guidelines for single person lifting: NO REPETITIVE LIFTING OF OBJECTS OVER 50 POUNDS. A one-time lift or movement of objects may be necessary but only using accepted lifting procedures and using extreme caution. If repetitive lifting exceeds the guidelines, seek additional assistance.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Must be able to read.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift truck.
  • Must be able to operate custodial equipment and light maintenance tools.
  • Must be able to maintain working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Must hold a valid Indiana driver's license.
  • Must complete the Driver Approval Form to obtain authorization from the Systems Office for operating any College-owned, leased, or rented vehicles as part of their job responsibilities.
  • NO REPETITIVE LIFTING OF OBJECTS OVER 50 POUNDS.
  • A one-time lift or movement of objects may be necessary but only using accepted lifting procedures and using extreme caution.
  • If repetitive lifting exceeds the guidelines, seek additional assistance.
