About The Position

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Maintenance Crew Leader to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Public Works- Right of Way. As a Maintenance Crew Leader - ROW, you will oversee and direct crews on job sites, independently developing working methods and sequences under general supervision. This role involves operating and maintaining drainage infrastructure and storm sewer systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) year's experience in maintenance or closely related experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Regular and timely attendance at work.
  • Oversees, directs, and work with job site crew, operating and maintaining drainage infrastructure and storm sewer systems.
  • Analyze job for the day and ensures all parts are retrieved.
  • Completed daily work orders.
  • Operates heavy equipment.
  • Excavates and cleans as necessary.
  • Measure elevations and grades to ensure/achieve design stormwater flows.
  • Lead and use closed circuit television as well as combination cleaner equipment to clean and inspect utility infrastructure.
  • Excavates to establish and reestablish design elevations intended to move stormwater as well as install/rest culvert pipe as needed.
  • Operate and perform minor repair and maintenance on tractors, mowers, power hand tools and other equipment, as needed.
  • Ensure safety equipment and PPE are used.
  • Ensure equipment is in full operational order before and after jobs.
  • Performs and ensures utility locate requests including but not limited to water, sewer and dry utility locates.
  • Operates excavator and other heavy equipment machinery.
  • Oversees and prepares traffic control plans.
  • Completes activity reports and check work orders and citizen's complaints as necessary.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment as needed.
  • Maintains tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Prepare daily and monthly reports.
  • Completes paperwork.
  • Supervises the crew.
  • Assists other crews as needed.
  • Perform special projects and/or other work-related assignments.
