About The Position

Operates power-driven machinery used to move materials, including small and large cranes. Sets up and operates production equipment according to established procedures, adjusts machine settings to meet specifications, and moves materials as directed. The role may involve working on unlevel surfaces, assisting with positioning and securing materials during installation, and performing routine equipment maintenance or repairs. The operator follows safety and project rules and works under immediate supervision, typically reporting to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

NCCER or NCCCO credentials are required.
May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in the field or a related area may be required.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines while working under immediate supervision.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately and on time according to specifications.
Operate equipment using hand and foot controls.
Interpret hand signals to determine where materials should be placed.
Manipulate equipment on unlevel working surfaces when required.
Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
Observe load hookup and determine whether loads are safe.
Control crane and hoist speed and direction according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
Clean and maintain cranes and hoisting mechanisms.
Inspect cranes for defective parts, document defects or malfunctions, and notify the supervisor.
Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
Interpret load charts when required.
Comply with safety and project rules and perform other duties as required.
