About The Position

The Controls Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and operation of electrical and automated control systems and associated equipment. The Controls Technician shall be able to troubleshoot control systems, read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation, and understand the operation and configuration of PLCs, VFDs, sensors, controllers, communication networks, and related components.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles daily.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and automated control systems.
  • PLC Programming/ Electrical design
  • Design/programming of Human Machines Interfaces (HMI)
  • Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical production information
  • On-call service/support for existing installations
  • Ability to use laptops, multimeters, hand tools, and electrical troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control system components.
  • Availability for on-call work, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, customers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, or installing industrial electrical, automation, or control systems.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, relays, contactors, and communication networks.
  • Experience with automated material handling, conveyor, baggage handling, or similar industrial systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks and control system architecture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency using laptops, multimeters, calibration equipment, and other diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate electrical and automated control systems and associated equipment.
  • Monitor control systems, equipment status, and alarms to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors, motor controls, communication devices, and associated electrical components.
  • Diagnose electrical and control system failures using schematics, system information, diagnostic tools, and established troubleshooting procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning, calibration, testing, and repairs on electrical and control components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Monitor system and equipment performance to identify trends and proactively address potential failures.
  • Make approved adjustments to control system parameters and equipment settings to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Verify proper equipment and system operation following maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, or adjustments.
  • Respond to equipment faults and operational issues to minimize system downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance of automated airport equipment and associated control systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory records, and equipment data.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Communicate equipment status, system issues, troubleshooting findings, and completed repairs with supervisors and appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel, operations, engineering, customers, vendors, and contractors as required.
  • Comply with the company safety program, policies, procedures, and required training.
