About The Position

The Maintenance Automation Technician (MAT) performs all duties necessary, under the general direction of the Maintenance Team Leader (MTL) to maintain the assigned manufacturing production equipment to include set up, changeover, preventive maintenance, major mechanical, electrical, and automation breakdown maintenance, and assist in the development of new products and processes. The MAT receives minimal supervision and guidance from the MTL. Demonstrates leadership qualities and can initiate and execute major projects. They are a mentor to all junior technicians.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Vocational or technical certifications required.
  • 4-6 years manufacturing experience.
  • 4-6 years multi-craft maintenance experience.
  • Demonstratable leadership qualities.
  • Must have experience and understanding of mechanical and electrical applications.
  • Ability to listen and learn from more seasoned technicians.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment.
  • Open minded.
  • Ability to properly escalate DT and other issues.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a technology field highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an automation safety advocate for all surrounding colleagues.
  • Advanced ability to read and understand electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.
  • Ability to troubleshoot major mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
  • Can safely troubleshoot electronic circuits and panels to include all 24VDC controls components.
  • Can log in, navigate, modify, save, and recover PLC ladder logic.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machines using PLC software.
  • Can instruct and teach other technicians basic controls knowledge.
  • Can backup PLC programs and robot images and programs.
  • Can navigate and modify robot programs.
  • Can touch up and recover robotic move points.
  • Ability to recognize and modify electrical and automation inefficiencies.
  • Lead internal integration projects for new and existing equipment.
  • Ability to track automation parts and supplies used from tool crib to report to MRO team for purchase.
  • Usually serves as the MTL or 2nd-in-Command (2IC) for the MTL.
  • Log-in and complete all assigned SOP’s and compliance trainings in eInfotree.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by maintenance leadership.
