About The Position

The Maintenance Attendant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in the daily operation, maintenance, and repairs of all systems involved in the smooth operation of a large, modern hotel and related properties, parking lots, and surrounding areas. This role ensures the highest quality of service to customers, promptly responds to guest concerns, and maintains a thorough knowledge of emergency and security procedures. The attendant will perform routine and in-depth maintenance on mechanical units, operate and maintain laundry equipment, and practice safety standards at all times. Duties include moving miscellaneous items up to 75 lbs, performing repairs such as plunging toilets, tuning televisions, and changing light bulbs, picking up outside trash, cleaning parking lots and planter areas, and cleaning air conditioner filters. The role also involves adhering to Lockout/Tagout procedures, maintaining the maintenance shop, and performing other assigned duties. Specific tasks include operating maintenance equipment, performing interior and exterior caulking and painting, roof maintenance, electrical repairs, carpentry repairs, tile repairs, foliage trimming, and mechanical equipment maintenance. The attendant supports professional service personnel when needed, helps oversee facility opening and closing, and ensures the smooth operation of all machinery. They turn equipment on/off, clean all equipment and hardware, observe equipment operation, and perform landscape gardening, tree trimming, painting, and minor electrical or plumbing repairs as seasonally required. Constant communication with other staff is essential, and at the end of the day, the attendant reviews cleanliness, resolves pending issues, and finishes their shift. They may also open/close the restaurant, ensuring security. A typical day involves logging in, changing into work gear, obtaining tools and equipment, determining priorities with the Maintenance Supervisor, performing repairs, maintaining cleanliness, performing seasonal maintenance, replacing or repairing minor components, reporting activities, and cleaning the work area.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems such as Quore.
  • Strong Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Knowledge of hazard waste clean up.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Understanding of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Ability to move miscellaneous items weighing up to 75 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior maintenance experience preferred but not required, including but not limited to building, HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the hotel building and grounds, including parking lot, guest rooms, hallways, lobbies, store-rooms, and laundry room.
  • Providing the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Promptly responding to all guest-related concerns, including complaints and special requests.
  • Performing in-depth and routine maintenance, and proper operation of all mechanical units within guest rooms and public areas.
  • Operating and maintaining all laundry equipment.
  • Performing repairs such as plunging toilets, tuning televisions, or changing light bulbs.
  • Picking up outside trash, cleaning parking lot and planter areas.
  • Cleaning and checking air conditioner filters.
  • Adhering to proper Lockout/Tagout procedures per OSHA requirements.
  • Maintaining the Maintenance Shop in a clean, organized manner.
  • Performing interior and exterior caulking and painting.
  • Performing roof maintenance, electrical repairs, carpentry repairs, tile repairs, and foliage trimming.
  • Performing mechanical equipment maintenance and general building maintenance.
  • Supporting professional service personnel when needed.
  • Overseeing the opening and closing of facilities and all electromechanical operational activities.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of all machinery, coordinating duties with managerial staff and the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Turning equipment on/off at the beginning/ending of shift, and cleaning all equipment and related hardware.
  • Observing all equipment operation.
  • Performing landscape gardening, tree trimming, exterior and interior painting of facility or furnishings.
  • Repairing or replacing minor electrical or plumbing components.
  • Resolving any arising issues with equipment, machinery, and general safety issues.
  • Communicating with other staff and general personnel.
  • Reviewing cleanliness and general maintenance at day's end, resolving any pending issues, and finishing shift.
  • Opening/closing restaurant, ensuring all entrance/exit security.
  • Logging in at shift’s start.
  • Changing into work gear, depending on the first activity.
  • Obtaining tools and equipment for the day’s activities.
  • Determining the day’s priorities with Maintenance Supervisor and scheduling logistics for needed repairs or maintenance.
  • Performing repairs or maintenance of equipment with or without other outside service reps.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all hotel equipment, including kitchen, counter, serving, storage, and preparation areas.
  • Overseeing equipment operation and management activities, concurrently maintaining an adequate flow of activities.
  • Performing maintenance of lighting, plumbing, painting, or gardening requirements.
  • Resolving any issues or problems with the support of the Maintenance Supervisor, ensuring general safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Replacing or repairing minor maintenance of lighting, plumbing or general operational equipment.
  • Reporting completed activities and any pending activities at end of shift, cleaning work area and finishing shift.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
