About The Position

LCB Senior Living is hiring a Maintenance Assistant at Maple Ridge of Essex. This role performs routine maintenance and repair of the residence, maintaining the physical appearance of the grounds and building, and ensuring the building is physically sound and safe. The position also involves cleaning residents' rooms and common areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, polishing, mopping, and disinfecting. The Maintenance Assistant discards waste into proper containers, replaces light bulbs, and assists with general housekeeping and laundry duties as necessary. This is a rewarding role working with seniors.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of maintenance functions and techniques, OSHA standards, state and local fire codes and other safety regulations required.
  • The ability to organize and provide the maintenance needs of the residence and to work with outside vendors and contractors as required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is essential.
  • Requires frequent heavy lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing and stretching.
  • Requires moving of heavy furniture, equipment and boxes.
  • Four or more years maintenance experience is required, preferably in the health care industry.
  • Valid drivers license in the state employed is required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • HVAC certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on the residence equipment.
  • Ensures work area is free of hazardous conditions.
  • Attends all required in-service trainings and/or orientations.
  • Participates in the communities on call program at the discretion of the MD and ED.
  • Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing environmental services.
  • Replaces burned out light bulbs for exit lights, overhead lights, room call lights, exterior lights, etc.
  • May act as contact person for vendors performing maintenance jobs.
  • Demonstrates proper usage of chemicals and equipment.
  • Discards waste/trash into proper containers and re-lines trash receptacles.
  • Discards waste/trash into facility dumpsters.
  • Cleans residents rooms and residence common areas including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, polishing, mopping, disinfecting, etc.
  • Works with outside contractors as needed.
