About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant supports the day-to-day maintenance and housekeeping operations within the assisted living community under the direction of the Maintenance Director . This is a hands-on role that helps ensure the community remains safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained for residents, families, and staff. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety in their day, and believes in teamwork and doing what it takes to deliver excellence. The Maintenance Assistant will also participate in the on-call rotation to support property emergencies as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior maintenance experience preferred (property, facilities, construction, custodial, or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of basic building systems and general maintenance practices
  • Ability to follow directions and work under the supervision of the Maintenance Director
  • Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical work as required

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance Director with day-to-day maintenance operations throughout the community
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including basic electrical, carpentry, painting, patching, and general repairs
  • Support apartment turnovers including painting, light repairs, touch-ups, and preparation for move-ins
  • Complete routine inspections and report concerns to the Maintenance Director
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks to help reduce emergencies and maintain community standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment, and storage spaces
  • Support routine housekeeping duties as needed, including: Trash removal Cleaning Apartments and common areas Spot cleaning, sweeping/mopping as assigned Supporting housekeeping team during high-need periods
  • Assist with grounds upkeep (as seasonal needs require) such as light outdoor maintenance, walkway safety checks, and keeping entrances clean and presentable
  • Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner, communicating progress and updates as needed
  • Provide friendly customer service to residents and families while maintaining professionalism and respect
  • Promote a culture of collective ownership, helping wherever needed and doing whatever it takes to support residents and team success
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to property emergencies per schedule
