About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, this role assumes responsibilities for the overall maintenance of the facility. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for preventative maintenance, painting, and repairs both inside and outside the facility to provide a safe, attractive, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role also conducts routine tests and inspections on various facility systems and implements programs to meet the goals and objectives of the facility.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of trade or vocational school, with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and electricity preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience in construction or maintenance of equipment, utilities and buildings preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years Supervisory experience Healthcare facility experience preferred.
• Knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes and ordinances.
• Knowledge of basic machinery and tools.
• Ability to operate lawn and yard equipment.
• This position requires compliance with Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening process.

Nice To Haves

• Courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and electricity.
• Three (3) years full-time experience in construction or maintenance of equipment, utilities and buildings.
• Five (5) years Supervisory experience Healthcare facility experience.

Responsibilities

• Works with Director of Facilities to develop and review Maintenance policies and procedures on an annual basis.
• Plans, schedules, supervises, delegates and participates in maintenance and repair work, including, but not limited to, masonry, carpentry, painting, gardening, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning and heating; monitors staff for completion of work on a timely basis.
• Establishes a preventative maintenance schedule and recommends building equipment improvements.
• Keeps accurate records of equipment and maintenance performance.
• Performs periodic maintenance audits of building, grounds, facility and equipment.
• Maintains a current inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment and stock.
• Conducts routine tests of various systems and equipment, including, but not limited to, emergency generator, fire alarm, sprinkler system, hood and duct system, door alarms, call lights and hot water system.
• Administers personnel functions of Maintenance Department.
