About The Position

Mitchell Plastics is seeking a motivated Maintenance Assistant to help maintain reliable equipment and support a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. The role involves performing preventative maintenance, helping troubleshoot equipment issues, supporting continuous improvement, and keeping work areas safe and functional. The position is identified as day shift.

Requirements

Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a commitment to working safely.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience using hand tools.
Basic machining and welding knowledge or experience.
Understanding of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
Familiarity with injection molding machines and their auxiliary equipment.
Basic understanding of applicable Quality and Environmental Management System procedures related to the role.
Ability to understand and follow the forms, tags, labels, and documentation required for maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to keep machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Assist with improvements to workstations and processes to enhance workplace safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Help identify and address hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment problems.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and corrective actions in the maintenance software system and on preventative maintenance forms.
Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to correct unsafe conditions.
Assist with providing proper lighting, installing or maintaining racking, and ensuring work areas are safe, organized, and functional.
Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
