Heritage Specialty Care, a 171-bed long-term care skilled nursing community located in Cedar Rapids, IA, is now hiring for a Part Time Maintenance Assistant. This role is for a compassionate Maintenance Professional looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals during their healthcare journey. The position involves providing comprehensive care and applying skills to positively influence the lives of residents. Responsibilities

  • Perform all maintenance tasks as needed, according to skills/abilities and consistent with regulations and facility policy.
  • Monitor operation and condition of equipment and systems routinely and perform preventive/corrective maintenance in a timely manner to minimize disruption to a safe, comfortable environment.
  • Assist in monitoring operation of general systems such as heating/cooling; report problems or malfunctions immediately.
  • Assist housekeeping staff with heavy floor care (strip/wax/buff) and other heavy cleaning and trash collection and/or removal.
  • Assure appropriate tools, equipment, materials and supplies are available for performance of maintenance duties; establish and maintain inventory and records of purchase.
  • Maintain outside walkways in safe condition for use, i.e. assure prompt snow/ice removal.
  • Maintain lawn and landscaping.
  • Assure facility or equipment modifications, preventive maintenance or repairs are done in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, regulations, and laws.
  • Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Assist in inspections, fire and disaster drills, and training; report outcome according to established procedure.
  • Use equipment, tools, supplies, and chemicals according to instructions, observing safety precautions and protective measures.
