Maintenance team members support the health and well-being of residents by maintaining the facility, its furnishings, and grounds. The Maintenance Assistant helps ensure the safety of residents and staff by performing repairs and upkeep, including lawn care and snow and ice removal. Duties may involve electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry, equipment and mechanical systems, heating, cooling, and water systems, except where those services are handled by outside contractors under service contract. The position may also involve handling freight, moving heavy furniture and equipment, and driving a company vehicle as needed. The role requires a dependable, safety-conscious employee who treats residents with courtesy, respect, and kindness; protects resident privacy and confidential information; provides strong customer service; and adapts priorities to changing facility needs. The employee follows facility policies, procedures, safety standards, dress code, and timekeeping requirements; participates in meetings and in-services; and supports Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, Values, code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies. As directed, the employee participates in the on-call program and adjusts their schedule to meet facility needs.
