About The Position

The Maintenance Apprentice role at SupportWorks Housing (Formerly Virginia Supportive Housing) is a full-time position focused on learning a skilled trade while contributing to the mission of providing safe, stable housing for individuals overcoming homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges. The apprentice will work alongside experienced technicians and supervisors, gaining exposure to various aspects of property maintenance and developing practical skills. The work is described as having purpose, where the employee's contributions matter daily in creating safe and clean housing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of maintenance or grounds experience
• Valid VA driver's license & reliable transportation
• Positive attitude & willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced maintenance technicians
• Clean and maintain common areas and grounds
• Turn over units (cleaning, painting, minor repairs)
• Complete work orders & preventative maintenance
• Support inspections and identify maintenance needs
• Help ensure building safety systems are functioning properly
