About The Position

The Maintenance & Reliability Technician is responsible for maximizing equipment reliability and facility performance through hands-on troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. Serving as the primary technical resource for the operation, this role diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues while supporting the maintenance of production equipment, facility infrastructure, and manufacturing support systems. In addition to responding to equipment failures, this position is responsible for developing and sustaining a preventive maintenance program utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The role focuses on transitioning the operation from reactive maintenance to a proactive reliability-centered maintenance program that improves equipment uptime, reduces downtime, and supports operational excellence. Success in this role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, the ability to fabricate and weld components as needed, and the initiative to identify, implement, and sustain maintenance processes that improve the long-term reliability, safety, and efficiency of the operation.

Requirements

  • Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent maintenance experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS software and preventive maintenance programs preferred.
  • HVAC, Plumbing, or hydraulics/pneumatics experience preferred
  • High Level Electrical Experience 480 Volt 3 phase, as well as PLC experience preferred
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Root cause analysis.
  • Preventive maintenance planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • CMMS proficiency.
  • Working at heights and some heavy lifting required.
  • Carry a cell phone provided by company for urgent communications.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of AC/DC power, motors and controls.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Electronics including trouble shooting and repair.
  • Welding and cutting skills: MIG TIG and stick, plasma and Oxy-Acetylene.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments.
  • Adaptable to change and able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electromechanical equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, PLC-controlled equipment, and industrial control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Perform equipment repairs that restore production quickly while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors when advanced technical support is required.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production support equipment.
  • Develop and continuously improve preventive maintenance procedures and maintenance standards.
  • Identify opportunities to transition from reactive to predictive maintenance practices.
  • Monitor equipment condition and recommend maintenance improvements before failures occur.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend equipment modifications to improve reliability, safety, and productivity.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules and ensure work orders are completed on time.
  • Track equipment history, maintenance frequency, downtime, and recurring failures.
  • Utilize CMMS data to identify trends and recommend reliability improvements.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and modification of equipment and production support systems as needed.
  • Fabricate replacement parts, fixtures, guards, brackets, and tooling to support production and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain facility systems including lighting, compressed air, HVAC support equipment, plumbing, building repairs, and general infrastructure.
  • Coordinate repairs with outside contractors when specialized expertise is required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Develop standard work, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Assist with reliability projects, automation initiatives, and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain and recommend inventory levels for critical spare parts.
  • Perform maintenance activities in accordance with all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and equipment safety programs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
