About The Position

The Role: Our site in Toronto is seeking a Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor to join our team. The Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor will lead a team of skilled technicians and support staff while establishing and maintaining the processes, procedures, tasks, and standards necessary to execute all facets of facility. They will be responsible for safely installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting process and facility equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible to service production machinery and equipment, mechanical equipment and systems in the facility to ensure problem free operations. What You’ll Do: Lead a team of facilities technicians and support staff in all aspects of facility-wide operations and improvement initiatives Initiate and execute productivity ideas, efficiency & reliability improvements, and capital projects Develop and mature a culture of operational excellence and safe, reliable, and secure facility operations Meet the needs of ever-changing, cutting-edge research & development as well as manufacturing activities Partner with and foster positive relationships among outside contractors, vendors, and engineering support resources Challenge existing norms and standard processes; develop a culture of proactive/predictive maintenance versus reactive repairs and system downtime Develop and mature a culture of operational excellence and safe, reliable, and secure facility operations Meet the needs of ever-changing, cutting-edge research & development as well as manufacturing activities Partner with and foster positive relationships among outside contractors, vendors, and engineering support resources Challenge existing norms and standard processes; develop a culture of proactive/predictive maintenance versus reactive repairs and system downtime Prepare operation reports, maintenance budgets, and provide analysis of all reports to site and division leadership

Requirements

  • Formal Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or Equivalent military training/education.
  • Years of Experience/Type of Experience/Industry: 5+ years of facility maintenance or maintenance management. 3+ years of people management
  • Experience with a variety of facility-wide support utilities and equipment (HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water treatment systems, electrical infrastructure and backup systems, control and monitoring systems, etc)
  • Project management/project engineering experience
  • Experience with management of a diverse and complex facility-wide budget and associated accounting practices
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills; Excellent interpersonal and team communication skills
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001/45001 environments preferred
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Knowledge of various reliability measures and techniques
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • SAP experience is a plus

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry would be an asset.
  • Certifications: Certified Facilities Manager certification preferred
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Continuous Improvement certification (Lean, six-sigma, and/or TPM) preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001/45001 environments preferred
