About The Position

This full-time position is part of a 9-month Industrial Maintenance 'Learn While You Earn' training program. Participants receive paid employment at $29.05 per hour while attending school and gaining hands-on maintenance experience. Upon successful completion of the program, the team member commits to a minimum of two (2) continuous years of full-time employment in the Maintenance Department at the Dakota City facility. The Maintenance Trainee is responsible for supporting continuous production by troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment used in beef processing operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher during the training program
Must have the necessary communication skills/ability to understand instructions received via radio, the ability to read and comprehend written and verbal machine instructions, /work orders, and to correctly complete all job-related paperwork
All applicants must successfully complete a mechanical aptitude assessment
Only candidates with passing scores will be considered
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson have a 3-time limit and a waiting period of 180 days

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and industrial equipment
Perform work involving: Mechanical systems, Hydraulics, Electrical systems (including 3-phase and AC/DC control wiring), Plumbing, Conveyor maintenance, Welding, Pneumatic systems
Set up, adjust, and break down production line equipment
Complete required maintenance documentation
Work independently with limited supervision
Follow all safety, food safety, and company policies
