About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and modifying a wide variety of production machinery, manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and support equipment. This role supports safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations through preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. The technician works closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to maximize equipment uptime and operational performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical power transmission systems, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and machine automation.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work including standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, and working in confined spaces as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical diploma, certificate, or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related discipline.
  • Experience maintaining CNC machines, multi-spindle screw machines, grinding equipment, heat treat furnaces, automated assembly equipment, or similar precision manufacturing systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms.
  • Experience troubleshooting servo drives, VFDs, robotics, and automated production equipment.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and condition monitoring.
  • Experience with CMMS software and computerized maintenance documentation systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Welding certification or demonstrated proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, rigging, and industrial lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, and industrial safety best practices.
  • Experience in aerospace, bearing manufacturing, machining, metalworking, automotive, or other highly engineered manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to participate in equipment installations, capital projects, machinery upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated reliability, self-motivation, and commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and modify manufacturing equipment including automatic screw machines, CNC lathes, grinders, heat treat furnaces, assembly equipment, conveyors, motors, compressors, and other production machinery.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform root cause troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Replace, repair, and adjust worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components to restore equipment functionality.
  • Perform corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and support production requirements.
  • Test and validate equipment performance following repairs or modifications to ensure proper operation and reliability.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established schedules, maintenance procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and facility systems to identify potential failures and maintenance needs.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and completed repairs using maintenance management systems and other required records.
  • Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures and equipment reliability programs.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, circuit breakers, switches, lighting circuits, machine control panels, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems using technical blueprints and schematics.
  • Install, connect, and troubleshoot motors, controls, sensors, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, servo systems, and automated machinery.
  • Perform welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, grinding, and basic machining operations in support of maintenance activities.
  • Rebuild, retrofit, and modify machinery to improve production efficiency, safety, quality, and equipment performance.
  • Perform precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of machine components while maintaining required tolerances.
  • Support equipment installation, relocation, commissioning, and facility improvement projects.
  • Maintain facility support systems including HVAC equipment, sprinkler systems, overhead cranes, hoists, lift trucks, compressed air systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of plant electrical power and lighting systems.
  • Safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, hoists, cranes, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform work in accordance with OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, or operational concerns.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance shops, work areas, and throughout the facility.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete maintenance work orders, equipment history records, inspection reports, and downtime documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair activities, and maintenance recommendations to supervisors and production personnel.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, reliability, and equipment performance initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business and operational objectives.
