Mainframe Systems Programmer
About The Position
This Mainframe Systems Programmer role involves upgrading and supporting the z/OS operating system and ISV products, mainly from IBM and Computer Associates (CA). The successful candidate will ideally have more than ten years of z/OS systems programming experience, very strong Parallel Sysplex skills, and extensive experience of installing many IBM and CA products. They will have ideally worked in a Bank or organizations with large installations, be confident, able to work independently, and start contributing from day one. They must have excellent problem-solving skills and be a true team player. They will need to provide off-hours support for the implementation of software changes, when required. They must have excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience installing and supporting mainframe software products such as IBM and/or CA/Broadcom
- 3+ years of experience with core z/OS tools (e.g. SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, and/or RACF)
- 3+ years of experience with Parallel Sysplex environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- True team player
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
