CTG is hiring a highly skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer to support a z/OS 3.1 migration, with a focus on JES2 exits, RACF security, and workload automation integration. This role is ideal for someone experienced in system-level programming, security remediation, and mainframe modernization initiatives. The duration of the role is 9 months and it is a remote position. Requirements

  • 7+ years in z/OS Systems Programming
  • Strong expertise in JES2 exits (development, debugging, enhancement)
  • Deep knowledge of RACF, including SURROGAT and batch security
  • Experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/OPC/IZWS)
  • Solid understanding of JCL, job submission flows, and mainframe security architecture
  • Proven experience supporting z/OS upgrades/migrations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group

  • Experience in large-scale enterprise mainframe environments
  • Familiarity with regulated environments and change management processes

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and enhance JES2 exit logic and job submission workflows
  • Implement RACF SURROGAT-based submitter identity remediation
  • Modify and validate JCL submission processes (USER=xxxx enforcement)
  • Integrate with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/OPC/IZWS) environments
  • Support z/OS 2.x to 3.1 migration, ensuring consistent job execution
  • Perform testing, deployment, and regression validation with zero downstream impact
  • Troubleshoot JES2, RACF, and scheduler-related system issues
