About The Position

This role involves managing and maintaining mainframe storage systems, ensuring optimal performance, and supporting various projects and operational activities. The position requires strong technical expertise in IBM z/OS storage management and hands-on experience with Hitachi storage hardware and IBM virtual tape systems. The engineer will be responsible for DASD management, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Collaboration with other IT teams and participation in on-call support are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS Storage Management.
Hands-on experience with Hitachi Disk Storage (HDS/VSP, USP, VSP G Series).
Experience administering IBM Virtual Tape System (VTS) or Virtual Tape Library (VTL).
Strong understanding of DFSMS, SMS, ACS routines, and Storage Groups.
Experience with DASD management, allocation, migration, and performance tuning.
Knowledge of backup and recovery processes for mainframe storage environments.
Experience with storage monitoring and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

Administer IBM Virtual Tape System (VTS) or Virtual Tape Library (VTL).
Manage DASD, including allocation, migration, and performance tuning.
Implement and manage backup and recovery processes for mainframe storage.
Monitor storage performance and conduct capacity planning.
Coordinate storage-related software and hardware upgrades.
Troubleshoot storage incidents and resolve complex production issues.
Collaborate with system programmers, application teams, and infrastructure teams.
Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and storage standards.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and operational policies.
Participate in on-call production support and maintenance activities.
