About The Position
The Mainframe ISV Associate is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing independent software vendor products on the z/OS mainframe platform. This role involves collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure reliable operation, compliance, and integration of ISV solutions within Walmart's mainframe environment. About the team: The Independent Software Vendor (ISV) team manages essential third-party software supporting operations, security, data handling, scheduling, and connectivity. They oversee software setup, configuration, upgrades, and vendor collaboration to ensure consistent implementation aligned with enterprise standards. The team emphasizes risk reduction through clear ownership, access controls, documentation, and compliance adherence. Acting as a liaison among engineering, security, audit, and vendors, they enhance issue resolution, proactively address vulnerabilities, and support audit readiness. Their efforts ensure stable, secure, and reliable software that protects critical systems and sustains uninterrupted enterprise operations.
Requirements
- Experience with infrastructure maintenance and performance monitoring.
- Strong coding skills adhering to industry standards, with knowledge of languages such as JCL, REXX, Python, and SQL.
- Expertise in configuration, version, and release management processes.
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues for moderately complex projects.
- Understanding of infrastructure design principles, including scalability, disaster recovery, and security frameworks.
- Proven vendor management or ISV tool lifecycle experience, including onboarding, upgrades, licensing, and decommissioning.
- Excellent troubleshooting and incident response skills, with the ability to drive cross-team coordination.
- Familiarity with mainframe security, access control, and change management standards.
- Experience with z/OS mainframe environments and ISV products.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area and 2 years’experience in technology infrastructure engineering across areas such as compute, storage, network, mobility or virtualization-related technologies.
- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area.
- Creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities
- Expertise in z/OS ISV lifecycle management, including onboarding, upgrades, configuration management, decommissioning, and vendor coordination.
- Experience supporting complex z/OS and Parallel Sysplex environments, including maintenance, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Strong troubleshooting, escalation, and solution evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of security, compliance, access governance, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness.
- Proficient in JCL, TSO, REXX, Python, and SQL automation.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools for observability, incident analysis, anomaly detection, documentation, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with key ISV products, including BMC, Compuware, Control-M, Mobius, Connect Direct, Tectia SSH, SAS, and MXG.
- Available for on-call support and incident resolution.
