About The Position

532 Group, LLC ("532 Group") engineers and delivers secure mission capabilities for critical government operations. We partner with agencies to enhance and modernize systems and infrastructures, strengthen cybersecurity, and execute complex programs that improve outcomes for the people government serves. We have an opening for an experienced Mainframe Developer. You'll join a great team; a good personality and strong work ethic are key. This position is remote; however, you must live in the United States (no exceptions) and you must have lived in the U.S. fulltime for three of the last five years. This position requires: Recent (the past two years) mainframe development experience, U.S. Citizenship or Green Card (no exceptions, also no 1099, C2C, or recruiters), a background investigation to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. Job Summary: As a Mainframe Developer, you will take on interesting challenges both sustaining and modernizing multiple programs.

Requirements

4-5+ years of professional experience as a Mainframe Developer
Proficiency with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
Ability to perform well in a highly rigorous, structured development environment.
Demonstrated experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment.
Demonstrated ability to determine and decompose business and technical requirements.
Strong communication skills and technical writing ability.
Ability to develop application solutions and provide accurate estimates.
Must be able to achieve and maintain Public Trust clearance.
Recent (the past two years) mainframe development experience
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card
Must live in the United States
Must have lived in the U.S. fulltime for three of the last five years

Nice To Haves

Industry experience: Insurance (claims), Healthcare (Medicare or Medicaid claims processing).
Familiarity with development and collaboration tools: GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Eclipse (IDz/RDz)
Experience with application lifecycle methodology, specifically Agile/Scrum.
Experience with Assembler language in a mainframe environment.
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps tools and frameworks through plan, define, build, test, release, and deploy processes.
Java or Python skills.

Responsibilities

Design, code, unit test, and debug enhancements and fixes to the health claims processing system while adhering to strict coding standards.
Participate as a key contributing member of a persistent development team supporting maintenance and operations.
Complete development to implement complex components within a legacy mainframe environment.
Work under general direction to resolve defects, implement change requests, and support operational stability.
Participate in design activities related to maintenance solutions.
Demonstrate general use and application of development concepts, practices, and techniques.
Design, prepare, and execute unit tests to validate change prior to release, and represent team to clients.
Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
Apply technical knowledge to deliver maintenance solutions across one or more technology areas.
Apply company and 3rd party technologies to software solutions of moderate complexity.
Implement end-user or enterprise solutions of moderate complexity with only general direction provided.
Integrate technical expertise and business understanding to create stable and reliable solutions for clients.
Consult with team members and other organizations, clients, and vendors on complex issues.
Provide time and resource estimates for assigned tasks and projects.
Assist in development solutions to complex business and technology problems in areas of proven expertise.
Develop standards, guidelines, and best practices.
