About The Position

NTT DATA is seeking a Mainframe CICS COBOL Developer to join their team. This is a remote position. The developer will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying scalable mainframe applications for logistics operations. This includes creating and maintaining responsive user interfaces, writing complex SQL queries for DB2, developing event-driven data pipelines, and ensuring code quality through reviews and documentation. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, and mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Cobol + CICS development, including the design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Cobol and developing batch processes.
  • 5+ years experience building responsive front-end user interfaces using CICS BMS macros.
  • Must reside in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience integrating with and interfacing to legacy COBOL systems.
  • Proficiency in database design, SQL optimization, and direct experience with DB2.
  • Past experience with COBOL mainframe or with COBOL to Java modernization.
  • SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Use Cobol, CICS to design, build, test, and deploy scalable mainframe applications for logistics operations like order processing, warehouse management, and shipment tracking.
  • Create and maintain responsive user interfaces (UIs) for logistics applications using CICS, focusing on a seamless user experience (UX) for critical operational tasks.
  • Write complex SQL queries for DB2 and perform database design and optimization to ensure data integrity for all logistics data.
  • Develop and implement event-driven data pipelines using TD and TS queues for real-time data processing and communication between screens.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Participate in regular code reviews with other developers to maintain quality standards.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings to track progress and plan future tasks within an Agile/Scrum framework.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, UI/UX designers, and QA testers to define and deliver new features for logistics applications.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers, ensuring that best practices are followed and knowledge is shared across the team.
